My New Office/Work Space

I've been in my new house for 4 months now and I have been slowly getting moved in and organized.  It's amazing how much stuff I have accumulated over the years and I have boxes and boxes to go through.  The one room that is taking me the longest to get in order, is of course, my office/workspace.
The first thing I did was paint the walls.  I wanted it to be a very similar color as my room in California and I came pretty close.  It's a soft blue green, which I find it very calming.
I started to unpack boxes, but soon realized that I was going to need a lot of storage space for all my beady stuff.  I found these great cube storage units at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but they have to be built.  Have I mentioned I hate building furniture.  I have built 2 and have 2 left.  I also had to buy a new desk, because my desk from CA was missing an important piece and I knew that that one piece would not magically appear anytime soon.  I have that kind of luck.  The new desk was a bear to build, but it's finally done.
So I'm hoping that I will get in there this weekend, finish building the rest of the storage units and start unpacking more boxes that contain all my beady goodness.   Once I have the room somewhat workable,  I'll then move on to the closet.  Lots more storage to plan out in there as well.

Thanks to everyone who has left such kinds words for me.  I am starting a new phase in my life and after being with my ex for 22 years, it will be quite a change.  But I am looking forward to my new life.

  2. It is really looking great. I am envious of you being able to 'build' anything!!!
You sound upbeat, and that makes me happy.
How are your boys doing? Are you enjoying your new area????
    Thinking of you!

  3. I'm really good at building stuff, I wish I were there to help.
I know I'm a nutcase, but I love organizing. I grew up with very anal parents so this phase is fun for me.

Troll the dollare store, I find great cheap storage there.

  6. Starting over requires a lot of courage.. but those that are brave enough to do it usually don't regret it!

  7. Your office room still looks messy, but I know that it will be finished in no time. Unpacking and organizing can be hard, and even frustrating, but it is the only way to have an office room that can be conducive for productivity. I like the color that you chose. The soft blue green color definitely has a calming effect to it.

  8. Hi Sandra! I can see you still have a lot of things you need to organize. I experienced the same thing when my cousin and I moved into our home office a couple years back. We had so much office supplies and furniture. To make it easy to move our stuff into our new space, we rented a storage facility to keep all the stuff we had. Then, we redesigned the interior of our home office. Soon after, we brought in the items little by little. And viola! Everything was set in place.
